Great Britain Hockey  has today announced that its programme will offer 20,000 opportunities to play hockey over the Olympic Games period.  More than 500 sites across the country will run sessions for young people and adults over a five week period as the sport looks to proactively build its legacy from the London 2012 Olympic Games. Twelve Paralympians from the GB and Ghana teams joined athletes from across the UK and Warwick University's Wheelchair Racing Academy last week for an evening event of 100m, 200m, and 1500m races for sprinters and wheelchair racing. For further info Click here

10,000 community sports clubs now have the chance to develop better business skills thanks to Sport England’s innovative new programme, Club Leaders and the best bit is that it is all free!

The national project is to train and support leaders of sports clubs in the business of running a club.  Click here for more information.

Sportivate

Organisations/clubs/bodies are encouraged to apply for Sportivate funding - Lottery funded grants programme linked to the 2012 Olympic Legacy Strategy which aims to get more 14-25 year olds participating in sport on a regular basis.  The next deadline for for delivery between 1st October 2012 and 31st March 2013 closes on  

Monday 13th August 2012.

Triathlon Comes to Coventry

Triathlon Live comes to Coventry from Saturday 4th August to Tuesday 7th. The concept is directly aligned with London Olympics ambition to create a Games for everyone.

Anyone over 18 will be able to jump into the cutting edge pool and test their ability against a current that will challenge swimmers of all abilities. Then bike and run on state of the art equipment as you take in all the action from the triathlon events on the big screen.

Inclusive Sport - Funding

Sport England is determined to create a meaningful and lasting community sport legacy not only from the London 2012 Olympic Games, but also the Paralympic Games, by growing sports participation by disabled people at the grassroots level.

At present, only one in six disabled adults plays sport regularly. We want to change this.  The Inclusive Sport Fund has been set up by Sport England with £8 million of National Lottery Funding. Click here for more info.
