Hayley Murray
Hayley is County, Midland and National Champion in her age group in Hammer Throw. She is ranked lst in her age group in the Country and won the English Schools earlier this year - her P.B. in this event is 48.79m. Hayley was selected to compete for Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Greece in the European Youth Championships where she won the competition with a throw of 46m |

Nathan Woodward
Is currently ranked No.1 in UK and No.3 in Europe Warwickshire county 400m H champion - May English Schools senior 400m H champion - July
Is currently in Holland competing at the European Junior Championships.
Nathan is on the 2012 development team with Uk Athletics, is coached by Matt Hargreaves and mentored by David Hemery (olympic champion 1968) Trains hard, is fully committed to his sport and yet still balances academic studies at the same time achieving 3 A* 4 A's and 3 B's in Gcse last year.
Nathan is a level 1 Coach and helps coach younger athletes at Star Track in the summer. |

Gemini Cheerleaders
Team Gemini Cheerleaders are an equal opportunity co-ed programme.
Set-up in 1996, they are the longest running Junior Cheerleading programme in Coventry. In June, their Junior B squad (aged 12-15) represented the UK at the European Cheerleading Championships for the 5th consecutive year, which is an absolutely outstanding achievement.
In fact, they are the first UK squad to achieve this! |

Leon Gordon
More then just Basketball. Leon is not just a basketball coach he is a mentor and a friend to his now extended family - his team. Leon started with Positive Futures as a volunteer in 2004 and has brought many young people on the programme through hard times, personal issues, drug misuse and crime by giving them ambitions and a sence of belonging. Leon builds up and maintains relationships with parents, guardians and teachers to enable everyone to sing off the same hymn sheet when mentoring the young people. A team of under 19's have been entered into the men's division 2 basketball league and are holding their own by winning a majority of their matches. 4 young people are having trials for the Birmingham team and are playing against an American team. When scouts have approached Leon for some of his players he sits them down and agrees for them to go as long as they attend school and aim for college and an education. Leon has helped 1 young person who was constantly in tr ouble with the police and gangs to audition for an acting school, he is presently in London for 6 weeks on trial and will hopefully gain a scholarship for 3 years. Through his coaching with Positive Futures, Leon was approached by the police - Kirk Doors QPM - to become a mediator, which he now does successfully. |

West Midlands Police have confirmed an 11% reduction in Total Recorded Crime in the Fordbridge Area since the NS Fusion boxing programme started in November 2006. There has also been a 12% reduction in disorder logs (calls) to the area and Bosworth Drive crime hotspot. |

Fleur O’Donahue – Equestrian
At the Special Olympics national games in Cardiff Fleur was placed fourth in three events. Four years later at the last national games in Glasgow she won 2 gold and 1 silver medal. These were in dressage, trials, and horse care and knowledge. She was also awarded ‘Best in Show’. |

Richard Wood – Kayak
Richard and the other three competed together at the last SOGB national games in Glasgow. The world games in Shanghai will be his biggest event ever. He says: “I get a bit nervous In Glasgow I was worried. But when I’m racing I just think I’m going to do it. I look towards the finish line. Even with only seconds left I keep going past the line. In Glasgow it was brilliant. I went like lightning. And I did it, I won gold for the 500m and silver for 200m.” |

Born in Singapore, Paul Thompson aged only 40 has coached Solihull & Coventry teams not only professionally but in the juniors as well to over 15 major trophies in just 10 years, including 5 in the last three years. He is also head coach of the national team, and also oversees the business running of the Coventry Blaze. |

UK School Games
The UK School Games saw 1300 competitors in eight sports battling for honours at venues across the city of Coventry. A world junior record was smashed in the athletics along with a national junior record in swimming. Former Olympic stars such as Daly Thompson and Dame Kelly Holmes turned out to support the athletics and highlight the significance of the Games. |
